Project Brief
The design included calculations to resize the building HVAC system to meet current demand for the Science Wing, converting a 100% outside-air system to a recirculating system, designing new exhaust systems for fume hoods, and designing a new rooftop AC unit with the provision to use central-plant hot water (when available) or the local building boiler heating system, including new controls.
MEP Engineering Scope

What We Engineered
HVAC and exhaust upgrades for the Science Wing:
- Resized building HVAC system for current Science Wing demand
- Conversion of a 100% outside-air system to a recirculating system
- New exhaust systems for fume hoods
- New rooftop AC unit using central-plant or local boiler heating
- New controls
The Challenge
The Science Wing's 100% outside-air system was oversized and inefficient for current demand, and the fume hoods needed proper exhaust.
Our Solution
KeRi recalculated loads and converted the system to recirculating, designed new fume-hood exhaust, and added a rooftop AC unit able to use central-plant or local boiler heat, with new controls.
